The Chinese government has been cracking down on VPNs and other methods of bypassing its Great Firewall, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to use one in China. In fact, by following our guide you can avoid being detected and enjoy full access to the global internet!

Why do you need a VPN for China?

There are a lot of reasons you want a VPN. China censors its internet, and uses the Great Firewall of China (GFW) to block access to websites that don’t fall in line with the government’s ideology.

This means that if you try to visit a website that is blocked by the GFW, it will automatically redirect you to another site instead. For example if you try to access Facebook from within China, it will display an error message saying “Sorry but this content is not available in your location” or something similar.

The only way around this is by using an encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN encrypts all data sent from your computer before sending it across the web so that nobody can see what sites you are visiting without knowing your login details first!

How to download a VPN for China

1. Download the app for your device
2. Install it
3. Launch the app and connect to a server in another country — or just leave it running in the background if you'll 3.be using another VPN service at home (we'll get to that later)
4. Once you've connected, turn on your VPN

Here’s how to use a VPN in China:

  • Download and install the VPN app of your choice on your device, or visit [insert link] where you can download a free trial version.

  • Connect to one of our servers located in countries outside of China, such as Hong Kong or the United States, and click “Connect” once you have finished downloading and installing the app on your device. This will ensure that any data sent from your computer or mobile phone is encrypted so it cannot be intercepted by the Chinese government’s surveillance systems.

  • Check if you are connected by using one of our servers in another country (such as Hong Kong) by visiting [insert url]. If everything works correctly then you should see this page when trying to access blocked sites while connected through Hola!

Conclusion

There are many reasons why you would need to use a VPN in China. From accessing foreign websites that are blocked by the Great Firewall to using Facebook, Twitter and other social media services, there are plenty of good reasons for using VPNs here. However, if you want to stay safe from hackers or government surveillance then we recommend using one whenever possible.
